Synopsis:
Newly single lawyer Gwen Baker needs a family Christmas to bury her woes, with festive films, country walks and a mountain of chocolate.
Her teenage crush Dev is back in their small village as well – and it turns out he’s just as kind, funny and good-looking as she remembers.
But then Gwen wakes up to discover it’s Christmas all over again. She’s trapped in a snowy Groundhog Day. But would repeat meet-cutes with Dev really be so bad for a heart that needs mending?
Review:
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. I’m usually a big fan of Kelk’s work, and her writing style in this one was as enjoyable as always—funny, charming, and easy to read. She has a knack for creating cozy settings and relatable characters, and I could picture the snowy village scenes perfectly. However, the storyline itself didn’t quite work for me. While the premise of a Christmas ‘Groundhog Day’ had potential, I found it didn’t deliver the spark or excitement I was hoping for. The plot felt repetitive, and even though Gwen’s interactions with Dev were sweet, they weren’t enough to carry the story for me.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read in parts, and I still think Kelk fans will appreciate her humor and warmth. But, for me, this one didn’t have the same pull as her other books.
