Over in House 4, Rosco and Lisa were busy drowning in indecision while pining for their young son, Lando. After hearing judge Darren Palmer’s gospel about creating a “light, white, and bright” house to lure buyers, the couple began frantically second-guessing their decision to include dark wood panelling in their crucial guest bedroom.
With first pick of the official houses hanging on this week’s scores, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Naturally, this was the exact moment they realised they were vastly behind on insulating — a job Lisa despises because it’s “itchy” — and short on ceiling batts.
Rather than letting them wallow, foreman Dan urged the pair to strike a deal with one of their neighbours to borrow a few batts until their fresh delivery arrived.

Rick regrets helping his neighbours after his good deed leaves him behind the pack.
Heeding Dan’s advice, Rosco managed to talk builder Rick into handing over his spare insulation, promising the replacement stock would arrive within two hours. Four long hours later, the batts finally rolled in, leaving a bitter Rick heavily regretting his good Samaritan act. “Moving forward, it’s not going to happen again,” he grumbled, staring down the very real threat of missing his 6pm plastering deadline while waiting on his neighbour’s tardy delivery.
That strict 6pm site closure sparked even more drama for Courtney and Sev, who strolled up to their car at 6.02pm only to find Dan had already locked the site gates. The foreman cheerfully informed the stranded duo they’d have to beg a rival team for a lift back to the share house.
Courtney, ever the uncompromising competitor, flatly refused to share a vehicle with her enemies, opting instead to summon one of her paid plasterers to serve as their personal chauffeur.

The Brisbane friends are playing absolute hardball this season. On top of keeping Courtney’s site management background a top-secret weapon, they’ve already swiped a sneaky look at the floorplans for House 4 (currently occupied by Rosco and Lisa) in hopes of snatching it after room reveals.
“We don’t want House 4. We need House 4,” Courtney declared. The dynamic duo are convinced it boasts the ultimate layout, reasoning that adding an extra story and a rooftop terrace will render them completely unbeatable come auction day.
What they don’t realise is that Adam and Jolene have hatched the exact same plan.
The South Australian couple have felt like complete outsiders since rolling into town — and not just because they’re the only contestants consigned to living in a caravan.
“Everyone else is from cities and we’re a couple of bushies,” Adam explained.
“We’re a bit rough around the edges,” Jolene concurred.
Living on a remote station means the couple are fiercely independent and used to doing everything themselves. But while they might be handy with a tractor and a spanner, modern technology continues to ruthlessly defeat them. First, it was Jolene failing to figure out how to put her car into drive; now, it’s Adam requiring a step-by-step tutorial just to place a phone call on his smartphone.
Wyatt is pleased with himself.
Interior design is proving to be an equally steep learning curve.
“I don’t think as we were driving up that we had a style in our heads,” Jolene admitted. “So, we are definitely winging that part of it.”
Over at House 2, Chantel and Wyatt are feeling far more comfortable with Darren’s “quiet luxury” brief. Chantel’s secret weapon? Pillows.
The mum-of-three holds very firm, non-negotiable views on how to fluff and arrange them, insisting you can never have too many because they feel like a “warm hug”. As Chantel rambled endlessly about her soft furnishings, Wyatt sat in dutiful silence, gently interjecting that he has to haul twenty separate decorative pillows off the mattress every night just to get into bed.
Pillow mountains aside, the musclebound building novice is gaining confidence by the day. “From what I hear, we are ahead of everyone else, which makes me feel good because yesterday morning I had no idea where to start,” Wyatt announced, wearing the proud expression of a toddler whose latest finger painting was just pinned to the fridge.
