Anthropic has confirmed a major service disruption affecting several of its flagship AI models, with users reporting increased errors across both the Claude chatbot and developer APIs.
According to the company’s status page, the outage is impacting Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Sonnet 5. Anthropic said it has identified the root cause of the issue, and engineers are actively working on a fix.
“We have identified the cause of elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Sonnet 5 and are working on a fix. We will provide an update as soon as possible.”
The company later issued another update, confirming that work on resolving the incident is still ongoing.
While Anthropic has not disclosed what caused the disruption, the incident is affecting both Claude.ai users and developers who rely on the affected models through Anthropic’s API. Users may experience failed prompts, slow responses, or temporary service interruptions until the issue is resolved.
The outage could also impact developers using Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding assistant, since it depends on the same underlying models. Software teams integrating Claude into their applications may also notice elevated error rates during the disruption.
Anthropic has not provided an estimated timeline for a full recovery but said it will continue to share updates through its status page as engineers work to restore normal service.
The disruption comes as competition among AI companies continues to intensify, with reliability becoming increasingly important for businesses and developers who depend on large language models for everyday operations.
Users experiencing persistent issues are advised to retry requests later or temporarily switch to alternative AI models until Anthropic confirms that services have been fully restored.
