Have you ever played against someone whose passes seemed to miraculously connect even when contested in Madden 27? Well, Timing-Based Catches are the answer.
But how can you perform them yourself and use their catching ability and knockout protection boosts when it matters the most? Here’s how to perform Timing-Based Catches in Madden 27.
How to Enable And Perform Timing-Based Catches in Madden 27
Like in College Football 27, you can perform timing-based catches in Madden NFL 27 by holding any catching input while the ball is in the air before letting go as it’s about to reach your player. When controlling a defender, you can perform timing-based interceptions in the same way.
Holding the button will then cause the game’s Timing-Based meter to appear if the ball is close enough. The meter will feature the staple green zone, highlighting its sweet spot, which will fluctuate based on your player’s attributes, position, ease of catch, and how well they are marked (offense). Just be warned: while letting go early will trigger a regular RNG catch, holding the input for too long will botch the play and make it easier for opponents.

If you are feeling daring, simply tapping the catching input as the ball is about to reach a player can also trigger a perfect catch or interception. To recap, here’s how to perform perfect catches and interceptions in Madden 27:
- Perform any type of pass, or wait for the ball to come your way when playing exclusively as the receiver or defender.
- Hold any Ball In Air catching input either immediately after the throw or as the ball gets closer to you. Holding it from the moment the ball goes into the air won’t work for defenders.
- △/Y: Aggressive Catch / Ball Hawk.
- Square/X: RAC / SWAT.
- X/A: Possession Catch.
- Let go of the input as the ball is about to be caught (or as the gauge reaches the green zone in your meter).
You can also enable perfect catching/interceptions for under 5-yard plays by heading to Settings, Catching, and then lowering your Timing-Based Catching Min Distance values to 0 Yards. Doing that for offense might be a waste, though, as perfect passes are by far your best bet when going for bullet or immediate releases.
