A little goes a long way with this crunchy chocolate shell, so it doesn’t add much sugar, either!

Why This Recipe Works

By melting chocolate with coconut oil, you can make a quick chocolate sauce that hardens on contact with very cold foods…just like at your favorite ice cream shop! (But this one tastes like chocolate, not wax!)

Ingredients You Need

Here’s a look at the ingredients you need to have on hand to make Magic Chocolate Shell so you know what to pick up from the store or have ready.

Ingredients for magic chocolate shell.
  • Chocolate chips: I prefer to make this recipe with dark chocolate chips so the chocolate shell has the most chocolate flavor. (You can also use a dark chocolate bar. Just chop it up first.)
  • Coconut oil: You can use refined or unrefined coconut oil here. I use it because it helps the chocolate harden into a crisp texture (which makes for a crisper homemade magic shell recipe than if you used just melted chocolate on its own).
