POTATO RECIPES

Potatoes are one of my favorite pantry staples. Here’s why I love them:

  • Frugal. They’re one of the cheapest ingredients you’ll find. Stick with russet potatoes for the most inexpensive dishes, or switch things up with Yukon gold potatoes or red potatoes.
  • Easy side dish. If you can’t come up with a side dish, chances are, some sort of potato recipe will work.
  • Good for you. Potatoes give you carbohydrates, and they’re a good source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
  • They store fairly well. Kept in a cool, dark place with at least some airflow, potatoes will keep for several weeks before sprouting.
  • So many ways to prepare them! As you can see from the list below, potatoes can transform into all sorts of yummy dishes! They are the ultimate comfort food.

POTATO RECIPES FAQS

Are potatoes healthy?

Part of the nutrition of potatoes has to do with how you cook them – a simple baked potato is going to be different than a bag of potato chips, for instance. But overall, potatoes help keep you satiated, and they’re a great choice to pair with lean protein and produce.

What are the best potato recipes for breakfast?

What can you make with a lot of potatoes easily?

If you end up with a ton of potatoes, you want recipes that use several at a time. The roasted potato dishes or potato soup recipes are going to be your best bet. Or make a big batch of Mashed Potatoes and freeze them – potatoes get a weird texture when frozen alone, but mixed with a bit of fat from milk and butter, they freeze beautifully.
