As per latest transfer news, Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has completed a permanent transfer to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. This ends his two-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

Marc Guiu completes Leipzig move

Guiu has joined RB Leipzig on a permanent deal after spending the past two seasons with Chelsea. The 20-year-old joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2024 for a reported £5m fee and went on to make 29 first-team appearances for the Blues.

As reported by Chelsea FC, Guiu scored eight goals across all competitions during his time at the London club. He scored six goals in six games in the 2025 UEFA Conference League, the year the Blues won the competition.

Guiu also featured in Chelsea’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup last year, adding another major trophy to his short career. With regular playing time not guaranteed under new manager Xabi Alonso, Guiu has now decided to leave Stamford Bridge and take on a new challenge in Germany.

Guiu begins new chapter in Germany

As reported by Sports Mole, Leipzig have signed Guiu for a fee believed to be around €17m, which is approximately £14.6m. The move gives Guiu the opportunity to play more regularly and continue his development at a club known for giving young players important roles.

Guiu said the move was the right step for his career and praised the club’s efforts to bring him to Germany. The Spanish striker also highlighted Leipzig’s reputation for developing young players and said he wants to contribute to the club’s ambitions across all competitions.

Guiu will wear the No.9 shirt at Leipzig, taking over the number previously worn by Conrad Harder. Harder has moved in the opposite direction, joining Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg on a season-long loan in Ligue 1. The move to Germany could therefore give Guiu the chance to gain more first-team experience after struggling to secure a regular starting role at the Premier League club.

Chelsea and Leipzig continue squad changes

Guiu’s departure is another change to Chelsea’s squad as Alonso continues to shape his team. The striker leaves Stamford Bridge after making 29 appearances and scoring eight goals. In particular, he enjoyed an impressive run during the Conference League campaign. However, competition for places in Chelsea’s attack made it difficult for Guiu to become a regular starter.

The move to Leipzig could now offer him a clearer route to regular football. The Bundesliga side have a good record of developing young players and could offer Guiu more responsibility in the future. For Chelsea, the deal enables the club to move on from a player unlikely to get enough minutes under Alonso and also get a sizable fee.

Now Guiu’s focus will be to settle quickly in Germany and establish himself as Leipzig’s new No.9. His exit means his Chelsea chapter is over and the 20-year-old can begin a new journey and continue his career development in the Bundesliga. A good spell at Leipzig could help Guiu re-establish himself as a regular in the first team and show that he can be a reliable striker at the top level.
