The catalog also introduces the Custom V2 “Blackie” models, with black cases and dials. These were Japan’s First All Black Watches and were introduced only a couple of years after the Enicar Sherpa OPS, the world’s first black cased watch. The Blackie models have cases made from a special light alloy “KS-62”, with a special hard coating “Hardermite” on the surface. The case material is approximately one-third lighter than conventional materials and the black Hardermite treatment is approximately twice as hard as stainless steel. This treatment is applied to a thickness 5 times that of traditional plating, making it extremely hard, scratch-resistant, and corrosion-resistant.
