Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, has urged party members to base their 2027 campaign on facts, data and verifiable records rather than emotion.

Hamzat spoke on Friday during the inauguration of the Lagos APC campaign council at the party secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja. The party inaugurated a 1,235-member council as it begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He said APC members should be able to explain the policies, projects and achievements of the party-led administrations to voters during the campaign.
“It is not about emotion. It is about data. It is about records. We must be able to tell our people what we have done, what we are doing and what we intend to do,” Hamzat said.

He listed taxation, infrastructure, agriculture and security among areas where the party would present its record to the electorate.
“Our campaign must be about these records and achievements, and we must confidently explain them to the electorate,” he added.
Hamzat also highlighted infrastructure projects under the Federal Government, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, while urging party members to intensify engagement at the grassroots.
He said Lagos remained strategically important to Nigeria’s economy and argued that the state required continuity in governance.
The APC governorship candidate also urged party members to take the campaign to their wards, communities, neighbourhoods and other grassroots structures.
His remarks came as the party formally inaugurated its campaign machinery for the 2027 elections. The campaign council is headed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as chairman, with Hamzat serving as deputy chairman and former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as director-general.
Ojelabi, the Lagos APC chairman, said the party would deploy its structures across the senatorial districts, local government areas, wards and polling units.
He said the strategy would focus on direct mobilisation at the polling-unit level.
“Our emphasis this time will be more on Operation Man Your Polling Booth,” Ojelabi said.
He disclosed that the party was targeting five million votes from a projected seven million voters in Lagos, saying grassroots mobilisation would be central to achieving the target.
Obanikoro, in his remarks, called for unity and discipline among members of the campaign council.
He urged members to set aside personal differences and work collectively ahead of the elections.
“We must work as one, speak with respect, engage in a coordinated manner and proceed as one,” Obanikoro said.
The campaign council has several directorates covering areas including legal and compliance, party and inter-party affairs, administration, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
