By way of background: Washington State produces some notable and distinctive cabernet sauvignons. This one comes in at an accessible price point. Let’s see what it delivers.
Inspired by this wine: Standing on a cool afternoon on the clean, sleek concrete pier, looking across the bay and beaches.
Specs: This cabernet sauvignon is finished at a modest 13% alcohol and first sampled four years from vintage date, in July, 2026.
In the glass: Deep muddy brick red.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows a clean fresh blueberry.
On the palate: A soft and sleek entry of sweet red currants, almost without acidic bite. The sip glides seamlessly into your cheeks, bringing more blueberries and currants than blackberries. A touch of clean sweetness and the gentlest of acid wisps closes the sip after a lengthy visit.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, just garnering a plus for its gentle, lingering but elegant nature. Best value at the price point.
Following the black licorice test: A sweeter, fruiter, friendly entry! An unusual impact for the licorice test. Pleasant.
