How to Stay Consistent When God Calls You to Write

Press Toward the Mark

I have to remind myself sometimes to let go of the pressure to write the “perfect” blog post, because if I’m not careful, I’ll spend so much time trying to make every sentence perfect that I will never post it.

But God isn’t calling me to perfection—He’s calling me to be obedient and consistent.

So I press toward the mark, even when the words don’t sound exactly the way I want.

Even when fear whispers, “What will people think?” I press on toward the mark, because my approval comes from God, not people.

I press toward the mark, when something doesn’t work the first time. For I know if God called me to it, He will faithfully see me through it.

So today, this is my reminder—and maybe yours too: Keep pressing. Keep writing. Keep serving, and keep being obedient in whatever God calls you to do, because there is no failure in God! All of Heaven is backing us up and cheering us on!

The prize has never been perfection. The prize is Christ.

Lastly, pressing towards the mark may not be Christian writing, but whatever the talent is that God has blessed you with, remember to work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.
