This once-thriving young puppy lay motionless in the middle of a busy road. Her body condition was good, but her head wound was bleeding profusely and she was completely unconscious when our rescue team arrived.
As with all head injury patients, hydration with an IV drip helped stabilize her, and medicine to reduce brain inflammation was essential. She regained consciousness on our treatment table but she still needed a great deal of rest. So after cleaning Elsa’s wound we gave her the chance to sleep peacefully.
When she woke up, she was hungry! It took 18 days for Elsa to regain the coordination she’d need to walk and play, but it took her only a few hours to respond to loving care.
