If you missed out on getting your iPhone Duo Friday morning, you likely won’t see yours show up until early 2027. At least is isn’t getting worse anymore.
On Friday, Apple opened preorders for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable. Announced in September, the buzz following the event left little doubt that it would be an immediate hit.
And that certainly seems to be the case. The iPhone Duo sold out almost immediately, with dates slipping into late November and early December within moments of preorders opening.
As of Friday afternoon, the iPhone Duo dates have slipped into late January. That holds regardless of storage size or color, suggesting that demand is equal across configuration or supply numbers are low.
Apple never states how many devices it has made ready for sale on day one, but the shipping dates normally provide a clue as to whether a model is a hit.
Carriers had stock until later in the process. AT&T and Verizon had same-week delivery until about noon. Best Buy had a two-week shipment for most models as late as 2PM ET on October 16.
Supply from the carriers seems to fluctuate, though, and they tend to over-promise and under-deliver. Apple is more conservative with under-promising and shipping early, in most cases
For those who want to try their luck in brick-and-mortar stores, the iPhone Duo will be available to purchase in-store on October 23. You should expect increased crowd sizes and lines, though, and going to an Apple Store does not mean you’ll leave with an iPhone Duo, either.
