After Kurumi gets consumed by Akuma Kurumi and gets back into Forex trading, Mebuki does a challenge. That is the one who makes the most money wins. Of course, nobody knew that Mebuki would be the one that would have her luck run out.

As the girls start their challenge, we see Yasuko messing up by making the opposite bet. That is when she thought the EUR/USD was going to go up, but actually went down. It went up for a bit, which got her excited. However, when Mochiko was talking about Kurumi that EUR/USD is going to drop. Well, Yasuko lost a lot of money, that she did paper hands and cut her losses. She was really frustrated but wanted to do the reverse and go short. Before she did that, she hesitated and decided not to do it. That is when she saw it drop even further. She felt hungry and wanted to go out and buy food. Her luck is obviously not in her favor. Yep, what Yasuko said in the last episode that Forex trading is a “shitty game.”

When she wanted to get food, she rang Mebuki’s apartment door. However, she soon realizes that Mebuki is away, visiting her parents. When Kurumi bragged about earning 430k from the EUR/USD pair, Mebuki felt disappointed that she missed that opportunity. However, she forgot it was her idea to begin with, but she gave her some tips. With that, she thought about going into GBP/USD just because it’s going up. However, Kurumi thinks it’s too risky, and Mebuki should wait. She sounds disappointed.

During dinner, she gets nagged by her mother, which gets her frustrated. That is when she realizes she has to save money for her school’s living expenses. The way she thinks about doing it is putting in a trade for GBP/USD to long it, without realizing economic news that can affect the pair. When it went up drastically, she thought she had made it. After all, Mark Carney, now the prime minister of Canada, was the governor of the Bank of England in 2013. However, when he made his announcement, he decided not to increase interest rates, so the pair dropped significantly. Mebuki acted all surprised that fortunes could change in an instant. Soon, she was in debt since she was basically trading with a lot of leverage.

As expected, Mebuki can’t tell her mother as she has to make up that money. While Kurumi continues to roll in the dough as Mochiko seems surprised by Kurumi’s streak as she really smiled at her gains from her USD/JPY trade as the yen continues to weaken. This of course worries Mochiko as Kurumi might have a gambling addiction.

Meanwhile, Mebuki gets desperate as she doesn’t want to mess up her next trade. After all, she now has to make up the 200k and throws in her financial aid to make it back. Of course, she shorts the USD/JPY as she thinks that with the pair being at a new high, it can’t possibly go up more. During that time, “Abenomics” really became a thing as Japan wanted to weaken the strong yen through quantitative easing or QE. It’s an attempt to not only increase the money supply to stimulate the economy but also make Japanese exports more attractive.
As expected, Mebuki goes in without doing her research, and I can’t pretend to be surprised when she makes an idiotic trade. She lost a lot of money at first, but hid the fact that she lost a lot of money by pretending that everything was okay. Of course, things didn’t get better when she got home. She doubled down on the short, and when the yen weakened, she basically crashed out by throwing her laptop onto the ground and breaking it. Not only did she lose more than 400k yen, but also her computer.

The problem with Mebuki is her not knowing what she is doing. She got really lucky with trades that Kurumi helped with. When she went to do her own thing, that is when she started really losing her money and got into a fit of rage. I bet she would be one of those people who would go all in on AI-centric stocks, buy a lot of shares in Nvidia, AMD, Intel, Oracle, Coreweave, and the like and on leverage too. After the midterm elections, the stocks would crash as people elect politicians who are against data centers. Well, Mebuki would not only lose a lot of money, but would really crash out.

That said, watching Mebuki’s reaction is like a slow train wreck. She almost crossed the event horizon in not only losing her initial 200k but also her financial aid. I can say that Mebuki is worse than Kurumi, and even Kurumi’s late mother. I have my doubts that she will make up her losses as she lacks the luck and knowledge Kurumi has, just a lot of ignorance and a bad gambling addiction. Basically, she became a Mami Tomoe after two messed-up trades and probably the first not only being margin called but also her account frozen. As they say, “A fool and her money are soon parted.”
