Billy Crystal is the chicest in that now iconic white fisherman’s cable-knit sweater from When Harry Met Sally.
Billy Crystal Chic
Who would’ve thought that Billy Crystal could be such a style icon? Yet here we are, decades later, and everyone is still obsessed with that classic white fisherman cable-knit sweater he wore in When Harry Met Sally. Honestly, can you blame them? It’s timeless.

Speaking of When Harry Met Sally—you do know that’s my all-time favorite movie, right? I could watch it a hundred times and never get tired of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s chemistry. They were absolute perfection, thanks in no small part to Nora Ephron, the mastermind of modern romantic comedies. She had a way of making movies that felt like home—witty, warm, and just the right amount of heartache. Man, I miss her.
They’ll have what he’s having.
“Billy Crystal-core” is dominating the internet as fashionistas aim to emulate the cozy style of the rom-com star in the 1989 Nora Ephron smash, “When Harry Met Sally.”
In that film, the funnyman, now aged 76, plays a political consultant who famously rocks a chunky white fisherman knit sweater.

Normally, I’d file this under the Pop Culture category—because let’s be real, we’re talking about an iconic pop culture moment here. But since I also needed a glamour and beauty post for today (gotta stick to the editorial calendar!), and that sweater is undeniably a fashion statement, we’re giving it a rightful spot in the glam category. And the moment I hit publish on this blog post, I’m heading out to hunt down this sweater for myself. Wish me luck!
Fire Aid
Recently, Billy Crystal took the stage at Fire Aid to share the heartbreaking story of losing his home—the one he and his wife had lived in for 46 years—to the devastating Palisades fires in early January. Watching him speak about it was enough to bring tears to my eyes. He’s always had a way of blending humor with deep, genuine emotion, and this was no exception. My heart goes out to him.
And seriously, Billy—what’s your secret? How do you still look that good at 76? Whatever you’re doing, keep it up!
Sadly, I haven’t been keeping up with Billy Crystal’s career lately—not because I don’t love him, but life just gets in the way. I’m sure he’s been up to some amazing things, and honestly, I need to fix that.
Step one: a rewatch of When Harry Met Sally—because there’s no such thing as too many viewings of that masterpiece. Step two: convince The Gent to join me for a full-on Billy Crystal film binge for our Friday Night Dates. Sounds like the perfect plan, right?
I’ll Have What She’s Having
That reminds me, have you seen this ad? Apparently, it’s one of the spots set to air during the Super Bowl this Sunday, and it’s for Hellmann’s mayonnaise. And get this—it’s a recreation of the iconic deli scene from When Harry Met Sally with Billy Crystal and a very familiar twist. Yes, Meg Ryan’s famous “I’ll have what she’s having” moment gets a mayo makeover. Whoever came up with this idea at Hellmann’s is a freakin’ genius! They’ve taken one of the most memorable scenes in rom-com history and made it even more memorable—now with a side of mayo. That is some clever marketing!
Back to that iconic white cable-knit sweater—Billy says he has no idea where it ended up and regrets giving it away. Apparently, he donated it to the theater department at UCLA, and he imagines it could still be hanging around there somewhere. Can you imagine? That sweater is probably worth a fortune now! It’s a piece of pop culture history, after all. I envy the person who gets a hold of it.
