EXCERPTS
“I see the way you look at her. I see how she looks at you. You know that even at the end of all of this, if all goes according to plan, you’ll never be able to be near Ailith again, don’t you? After all of this, father wants to marry you off and will have her head. We’ll have to ensure she can live peacefully far from Braewick. She’ll be gone from our lives.”
“Does the sun love the moon?” Caitriona interrupted. She looked at Ailith’s sleeping form and everything within her yearned to reach forward and touch her. She was like a moth to a flame, pulled so immediately the sensation was bewildering. “Even though they’re often apart, they still manage to share the sky every once in a while.”

Some of My Favorite Items in My Office
Guest Post By Erica Rose Eberhart
In the Finger Lakes of New York, I live with my spouse, child, and cat in a mere 1,000 sq ft apartment. This space wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that both my spouse and I work at home and need home offices, so our small third bedroom is devoted to that space—as well as serving as our guest room and a holding cell for birthday and Christmas presents.
In the far corner in the room, betwixt two windows, seats my desk. It’s not even a true desk but a small wooden kitchen table I purchased from IKEA some ten years ago. I wanted a surface I could create on—paint, draw, write, and so much more—and found this surface to do the trick. Now it serves as my writing station (although I do still craft there) and it holds the essentials to my writing practice.
Beside a plant pot that I’ve converted into a pen holder and my assortment of fountain pen inks, I keep my crochet and knitting hooks in a roll on my desk beside a dice scroll and bag of dice for Dungeons and Dragons. There’s also framed photos of character art for my debut novel and a collection of candles that are only lit when I am at my desk working.
I work off of a laptop and have a riser for it to help with neck strain, and a lovely wireless keyboard that has a rainbow of glowing colors and elicits the softest clicking when you type. There’s still room on my desk for mugs of coffee, bottles of water, and plenty of notebooks as well as my planner so that I may keep track of my day-to-day activities. All paired with a massive desk chair that I can curl up in, which is my preferred way of sitting.
I truly adore more office set up. It’s taken years of adding and subtracting to the arrangement of it until I found something that worked best for me. With a flurry of art on the walls nearby, there’s always something to look at that brings me joy and comfort even when I’m writing something heavy.
In such a tight place as our apartment, so much of it is a shared space. It has to be when you have so little room and multiple people (and a cat) living within it. But this corner, my desk area, is all mine. It brings me comfort and joy and I truly cannot think of a better set up than what I have.
