Celebrating 20 years of the Australian Eagle Equity Strategy

Strong investment partnerships are built on shared values and a long-term commitment to delivering great outcomes for investors.

That’s why we are proud of our partnership with Australian Eagle Asset Management one of Australia’s top performing managers, whose Long Only Equity strategy is celebrating 20 years today.

Since 2005, this award-winning strategy has consistently outperformed the S&P/ASX 100 Accumulation Index by 3.63 per cent per annum.¹

This milestone reflects the team’s unwavering commitment and disciplined investment approach of identifying high-quality, undervalued companies with strong growth potential.

The Australian Eagle Equity Strategy aims to provide capital growth over the long term by actively investing in a portfolio of 25 to 35 large-cap Australian listed companies.

The Australian Eagle investment team looks for companies that exhibit strong fundamentals and are undergoing a ‘change’ that can enhance their earnings profile.

In September 2022, Montgomery partnered with Australian Eagle, expanding investor access to their expertise in Australian equities. This has brought Australian Eagle’s impressive 20-year track record and investment philosophy to The Montgomery Fund and the Montgomery [Private] Fund, where they now manage these portfolios for investors.

In September 2022, we partnered with Australian Eagle to offer investors access to their expertise in Australian equities. Australian Eagle manage our Australian large-cap equity portfolios, including The Montgomery Fund and The Montgomery [Private] Fund, and to distribute the Australian Eagle Trust – Long Short Fund to a broader set of retail investors. You can read more about our partnership with Australian Eagle here.

Congratulations to Sean Sequeira, Alan Kwan, Danial Chan, Mark Oliver and Harshita Saini from the Australian Eagle Team whose dedication and investment philosophy align with our own focus on quality and long-term wealth creation.

None of this would be possible without the trust and support of our valued clients. Your confidence in Montgomery and our partners allows us to continue seeking out the best investment opportunities and delivering strategies that help you achieve your financial goals.

¹Compound annual return of the Australian Eagle Long Only Equity SMA is 11.99% p.a. Compound annual return for S&P/ASX 100 Accumulation Index benchmark is 8.37% p.a. Time period is 07/02/2005 to 31/01/2025. Past performance figures are no guarantee of future returns and excludes Australian Eagle’s fees.
