The first aircraft featuring Wizz Air’s new cabin design has joined its fleet and will become a familiar look for all future deliveries of the Airbus A321neo and the new long-range A321XLR aircraft.
Central to the new aircraft design is the Airbus Airspace Cabin which has been created by the European plane manufacturer to enhance the passenger experience while flying.
On February 12, 2025, Wizz Air said that the first newly designed Airbus A321neo to join the fleet comes with an innovative lighting system and multiple settings to create the perfect environment at different phases of the flight, including boarding, dining, relaxing, and sleeping.
“These lighting schemes are designed to create a soothing and enjoyable atmosphere, ensuring a more pleasant journey for all passengers,” said a spokesperson for Wizz Air.
Other improvements to the aircraft interior include new aircraft’s lavatories that have been “completely redesigned with a sleek, modern aesthetic and state-of-the-art amenities”.
Significantly for the Hungarian low-cost carrier the new cabin design will also feature spacious overhead compartments giving passengers more room for their luggage and personal belongings.
“Wizz Air is the first European low-cost airline to equip its aircraft with the Airspace Standard Overhead Stowage Compartments for enhanced comfort,” said the airline spokesperson.
For visually impaired passengers the cabin has been designed with braille signage throughout the aircraft, these include braille row number indicators and lavatory signage.

Wizz Air already operates the A321neo with its last order place in August 2023 for 75 more, which at the time brought its total order for the aircraft type to over 400.
In the next two months Wizz Air is expected to receive its first A321XLR after placing an order for 44 of the single-aisle long-range aircraft.
Iberia received the first ever A321XLR in October 2024, after the aircraft was certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Since then, Aer Lingus has also had its first A321XLRs delivered, and Wizz Air is understood to be next in line.
In September 2024, Wizz Air CEO József Váradi announced that the first A321XLR route would fly from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Jeddah in Saudia Arabia from March 2025.
The Airbus A321XLR, a long-distance variant of the A321neo, was first brought to the world’s attention at the Paris Air Show in 2019. It has been regarded as a gamechanger for single-aisle aircraft.
The Airbus A321XLR will enable operators to provide non-stop long-haul services around the world where demand is insufficient to fill an entire widebody jet.
The aircraft is capable of flying 4,700 nautical miles for up to 11 hours. It will link cities such as New York and Rome, London and Vancouver, and Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
