A tornado warning is in effect until 10:15 PM CST for northwestern Monroe County and east central Clarke County in southwestern Alabama.

At 9:47 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles southeast of Whatley, or 14 miles northwest of Frisco City, moving northeast at 55 mph. Radar has indicated rotation within this storm.

This storm has the potential to produce flying debris, damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles, and destroy mobile homes. Tree damage is also likely. The storm is expected to remain over mainly rural areas, but residents in the path should take immediate action.

If you are in the warned area, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. Tornadoes at night are difficult to see—do not wait for visual confirmation. Seek shelter now.
