A quarter century after its first jet took to the skies, on 11 February 2000, JetBlue Airways today unveiled a special new livery on one of its aircraft to mark the anniversary.
“As we celebrate 25 groundbreaking years of JetBlue, I’m filled with gratitude and pride for the remarkable journey we’ve taken together,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s chief executive officer. “Our mission of bringing humanity back to air travel has set us apart, and our amazing crewmembers are redefining what it means to truly care for our customers and each other.”
Special JetBlue Livery
Marking 25 years since that first flight, between New York JFK and Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue has revealed its new aircraft, named BlueUnity ” in tribute and recognition of the airline’s more than 23,000 dedicated crewmembers that make every flight possible”.
The freshly painted Airbus A321 aircraft, with registration N970JB, operated celebratory flight #1 from New York to Fort Lauderdale.
The livery was designed by JetBlue crewmember Ray Mathew and highlights the teamwork that exists within the airline to make it work.
JetBlue’s History
JetBlue began by serving just 10 destinations, but has now grown into a much larger entity serving over a hundred destinations with a fleet of 290 aircraft.
It was the first airline to introduce live TV to seatbacks, and an all-leather seating configuration.
In recent years it has begun transatlantic services, introduced the Airbus A220 and A321neo, and begun offering its Mint premium cabins.
