Who Teaches 2D Animation at Escape Studios? Meet our talented 2D Animation team, the folks who are delivering our 2D Animation BA at Escape Studios as well as our Evening class in 2D Animation in Toonboom Harmony.In recent years 2D Animation has experienced a significant revival both in the UK and overseas, as Studios such as Blue Zoo, Aardman Animation, and Brown Bag Films adopt new software such as ToonBoom Harmony.

Shane Woodson

Shane Woodson joined Escape Studios in 2024 to teach our Second Year Animation Students the art of 2D character and creature animation. 

Shane Woodson is an experienced 2D animator whose credits include Mog’s Christmas and Peter and the Wolf

Toonboom Harmony

Shane also has extensive experience with ToonBoom Harmony, one of the leading software packages for delivering 2d animation.

Rebecca Perrone

Rebecca Perrone is an experienced 2D animator who joined us in 2024 to teach our “Level Six” 2D animation students in their third and final year of undergraduate studies at Escape Studios.

Steven Lall

Steve‘s broad animation skillset also includes graphic design, film editing, lighting & rendering, and also managing the motion capture pipeline.  Steve Lall has a BA in Animation from the University of Creative Arts, and a Diploma in Art and Design from Oxford Brookes University.  Prior to joining Escape Studios Steve worked in the advertising industry. 

Iliana Franklin
Iliana Franklin is a veteran storyboard artist and animator. Iliana Franklin runs her own production company Mediaframe, a UK based creative consultancy, specializing in content development and production for illustrative, interactive and screen based media.

Iliana Franklin‘s feature film credits include The Tale of Desperaux, A Monkey’s Tale (1999) and The Princess and the Pea (2002). She has also worked on many TV shows including Mecky and friends (1994), Hungarian Folk Tales (1992-1996), Spirou (1993–1995), and Carland Cross (1996). 

Iliana Franklin teaches our Evening Class in 2D Animation in Toonboom Harmony.  Iliana Franklin has worked in the animation industry for over 30 years, and is a Toonboom Harmony Ambassador.

Alexander Williams – Animation

Alex’s 2D film credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Thief and The Cobbler, The Ling King, Pocahontas, The Iron Giant, Looney Tunes – Back in Action, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit – Stallion of the Cimarron, and Sinbad.  

Alex has worked on projects at many major animation studios including Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, Sony and Warner Bros. 

Kevin Richards

Kevin Richards is a traditional 2D animator who took our 12 week short course in animation at Escape Studios, and successfully made the transition to 3D animation in Maya.

Kevin recently worked as a Lead Animator on the Aardman Animation TV Series “Pop Paper City“, produced by LoveLove Films

Kevin is experienced with both 2D and 3D animation, and has an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art.

Toonboom Harmony

Escape Studios is an ATC (Authorised Training Centre) for Toonboom Harmony, one of the leading software packages for the creation of 2D animation.
For students who want to get started with Harmony, we’ve uploaded a series of animation tutorials in Toonboom Harmony for our Vimeo Tutorial Channel, recorded by veteran animator and Escape Studios’ tutor Steven Lall.
