Threshold + Neil Welch Trio

Threshold is a quartet led by Don Berman (percussion), featuring Heather Bentley (cello, electronics), Dennis Rea (guitar, electronics), and Simon Henneman (guitar, electronics). Saxophonist Neil Welch leads a trio with Julian Weisman (bass) and Greg Campbell (drums, percussion objects, and french horn).

Daniel Menche (Portland) is an iconic artist whose extensive recording and performance history spans over three decades. FHTAGN is an experimental chamber wind ensemble led by Blake DeGraw. Lukas Dickson (Bremerton) self-medicates with noise. Glum Reaper is an amorphous glob of drone. MONED is a guitar conduit that explores the instrument’s endless possibilities. Visuals by Colorbard.

Thu. Feb. 27, 8 PM; $5 – $15 donation at door

Confluence is an ongoing series of open collaborative concerts, allowing Seattle’s adventurous musicians the opportunity to perform small sets with total creative freedom: composer/pianist Keith Eisenbrey, cellist Mary Riles, multi-instrumentalist Peter Nelson-King, pianist Jennifer Chung, composer Aaron Keyt, saxophonist Soren Hamm, clarinetist Beverly Setzer, trombonist Christian Pincock.

Lori Goldston, solo cello
Fri. Feb. 28, 8 PM; $20 in advance/at the door

Goldston’s voice as a cellist is singular, deeply textured and original, investigating thresholds, instability, and connections between far-flung modes of thought. This concert lays groundwork for ideas to explore in a seven-week UK/EU tour that starts the following day.
