Autumn means cosy reading nights under a blanket, walks among crunching leaves and warm, cosy jumpers. As we enter into the next season, I thought it’d be fun to look at some ways to get into the autumn/fall spirit!
Pick up an autumnal cosy book 📚
Who doesn’t love picking up a super cosy book during the autumn time? I have five book of recommendations that I think would be perfect to make you feel all the autumn vibes be it their setting is autumnal or they just feel like the kind of books you want to be reading on a cold day.
- Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier
- White Smoke, Tiffany D. Jackson
- Mooncakes, Suzanne Walker and Wendy Xu
- Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen
- Plain Bad Heroines, Emily M. Danforth
Switch up your Instagram theme!
I love seasonal switch-ups on Instagram, it could be the perfect way to give your Instagram a little seasonal boost and I have the perfect filters to help! I’ve created three new autumnal filters to fit perfectly with this time of the year, we have Rainy Days, Pumpkin Patch and Sweater Weather. If you want to purchase any of these filters, you can find them in my shop along with an installation guide for Lightroom.
Watch an autumnal film 🍿
Of course, watching a cosy film under a blanket whilst it’s raining outside is a perfect autumn activity! There’s soooo many good films to watch over the autumn period, but here are a few of the ones I’m most excited about.
- You’ve Got Mail
- Hocus Pocus
- Practical Magic
- Kill Your Darlings
- Dead Poets Society
Go for a forest walk 🌲
Forest bathing is one of my favourite things to do, the notion of being in a forest and just soaking up nature. I love how beautiful England looks in the autumn, the reds and oranges of the leaves make me so happy and I think it’s the perfect activity to go for a walk and just absorb every second of that beauty. There are some really cool apps to help you find new walk routes, one I’ve been liking is Komoot, it helped me locate a huge forest 10 minutes from my home that I had no idea ever existed!
Do some baking!
Autumn is a time I always associate with the return of the Great British Bake Off, so I always think it’s the perfect time of year to do some baking! I’m not much of a cook or baker myself, but I like to give it a go anyway, one of my favourite thing to bake is my take on Ben’s Cookies. I’ve shared the recipe I’ve adapted exclusively with my Patrons for anyone interested.
That’s it for my top five autumnal activities, basically, anything that makes me feel all warm and cosy is a win for me! From the summer to Christmas is always my favourite time of the year, I love the sunny hot days and then the transition into autumn and the journey to Christmas, it’s always a fun time!
