My first question to every politician who shuns cannabis with bullshit data, is “have you ever partaken in the plant”? And I might have to add, “how often”?
The onslaught of data from less consumption of alcohol, which we all know is terrible for you, less pharma being used, and learning about a variety of cannabis medical pluses daily is telling. The most significant piece is the taxes going towards every state that has legalized cannabis. The taxes are so egregious, particularly in California, that cannabis businesses are hanging on by their teeth. Although they want to raise the taxes, and I do believe the idiom here is you can’t get blood from a stone.
What will happen in this administration is up for grabs. The Dems fucked this one up. I am sure many backroom conversations are taking place, but it is hard these days. It is all about the cash and supporting the Trumps. It is undoubtedly not about common sense. It is hard for the cannabis industry to carry that kind of power when you have to put all your profits into taxes.
Where this is all leading is anyone’s guess, but at this point, nobody is pulling the plug on the ever-growing cannabis business. We will see businesses go under and debt rise in the industry, but no state is letting go of a business that creates capital and jobs. Listening to political rhetoric on everything these days seems to be fair game, and it is oh so painful to listen to.
If we look at the percentage of people in the states that believe cannabis should be federally legal, it would be at least one positive thing out of this administration if they at least listened to the people and got this done. But who listens to the people?
