How did you get into the profession?
I started my career as a financial adviser at a bank, which gave me a solid foundation in all things money! Despite knowing a lot about money, I lived in recurring debt shame cycles throughout my 20’s until I realised that there was a huge link between how we feel about money and our sense of self worth. I then made it my mission to empower people around the emotions of money and I now combine my practical knowledge with emotional intelligence to help people transform their relationship with money.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect is witnessing the transformation when someone shifts from financial anxiety to financial empowerment. When a client tells me they’ve finally broken free from generational money patterns or started investing with confidence for the first time, I know I’ve made a genuine difference in their life and potentially their family’s future generations.
Who or what inspires you to be even better?
My clients inspire me every day with their courage to confront deep-seated money beliefs and create change. I’m also inspired by the growing movement of financial professionals who recognise that money management is about more than just numbers—it’s about psychology, identity, and emotional wellbeing.
What are you covering in your Accountex seminars?
In my Accountex seminar, I’ll be exploring ‘The £50 experiment: How accountants’ financial beliefs affect client behaviour and practice profitability.’ I’ll share practical strategies for accountants to identify when clients are making decisions based on emotional money patterns rather than logic, and how to have more effective conversations that address both the practical and emotional aspects of financial planning. Plus I will be giving away real money from the stage!
Why do you think it’s important that the industry attend Accountex London?
The financial services industry is evolving rapidly, with clients increasingly seeking professionals who understand both the technical and emotional aspects of money. Accountex provides a unique opportunity to stay ahead of these changes, gain fresh perspectives, and build a network of like-minded professionals committed to holistic financial wellbeing. In a world where AI and automation are transforming the technical side of accounting, the human skills we develop through events like this become our greatest differentiator.
Don’t miss Catherine’s session ‘The £50 experiment: How accountants’ financial beliefs affects client behaviour and practice profitability’ at 10am on 14 May.
