We’re excited to announce a brand-new feature in LedgerDocs that’s designed to make your workflow even smoother! Now, you can easily convert bank statements and other financial documents into CSV files directly within LedgerDocs—no need for any additional conversion software. This update ensures you can quickly and seamlessly import transactions into accounting software like QuickBooks Online or manage them in spreadsheet editors like Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. We’ve created this feature to simplify your financial management and save you time and money! Here’s a look at how our new feature works.
How to Convert Statements/PDF to CSV/Excel in LedgerDocs
Selecting Statements for Conversion
You can convert individual bank statements or process multiple files in bulk. To bulk convert, select the checkboxes for all the documents you want to convert. Right-click within the folder to open the document actions dropdown menu.
Conversion Options
Convert Selected Items → Statement(s) to CSV
Convert Selected Items → Document(s) to CSV
- Converts all detected tables in the document into CSV while preserving the document’s original layout and headings.
- If the first option is unsuccessful, this method provides an alternative way to extract the data into a structured format.
Supported File Types: PDF and image files.
Staying Updated on Conversion Progress
Once the conversion starts, you will receive a notification to track its progress. You can continue working on other tasks while LedgerDocs processes the files. Conversions take approximately 10 seconds per document. After completion, use the ‘Open Folder’ shortcut in the notification to quickly access the converted file.
Reviewing and Using the Converted CSV
Since this tool is in early release testing, carefully review the CSV output for accuracy. LedgerDocs provides a side-by-side view of the original document and its converted version for easy comparison. If satisfied with the output, download the file and import it into:
- QuickBooks Online
- Google Sheets
- Microsoft Excel
- Or any other CSV-compatible editor
You can also hide the original PDF by clicking the PDF icon in the sidebar of the document viewer.
