Episode 2 of Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue now feels a lot like the Agatha Christie mystery: Ten Little Indians. But why? This should be the main question here folks. I must admit to missing the Agatha Christie connection, allusion, or plot assimilation last week. Sure, none of the passengers were invited to an area only to be bumped off one by one, but, there is an unknown assassin striking somewhat randomly.
The other big why question should be why hasn’t Amy, that so in-love honeymooner, told anyone that she knows someone else is out there with them. She and her “hubby” are a tad suspicious here. Amy for being so tight lipped about the shape she saw killing Octavio and why did Dan take so long to share what he found on the dead pilot’s phone.

The mystery so far
Octavio shares, posthumously, that “everyone is in danger” and that his fiance/girlfriend needs to leave immediately. Eventually Dan does share the late pilot’s information. Amy, on the other hand, who has actually seen the “figure’s” face has yet to say a word.
She and Dan were strangers when they met. Neither of them share any other information apart from being on honeymoon.
Travis and Lisa, the MAGA hotel chain owners, distrust everyone who is not them. Simple paranoia that they share with their biggest hero. Travis is the only passenger who has access to a gun. He shoots two monkeys to feed the hungry survivors.
Death is about to visit the passengers again and it does not need a gun to kill.
Meanwhile back at the Army camp
The Army are disagreeing about just what “no contact” with the nine dead bodies means. Photographs are taken off the dead to help identify them against the passport photos. Unfortunately most of the bodies are too deteriorated. One victim, apparently, has no face.
The Army officials at the camp also learn that one of the passengers on the plane is missing.
Meanwhile back at the crash site
We finally learn what Sonja does when she is not surviving plane crashes. Someone is stealing food and water. Sonja sets up a water purifying system. Dan learns about Cenotes. Amy sees the man in the jungle again.
The remaining passengers listen to Octavio’s message and it sounds like they are all in danger of being killed. Dr Kevin reveals why he left medicine and it explains a lot about his reluctance to help the injured pilot.
The group also learn about deadly, but pretty, mushrooms.
All of them, but one, eat monkey meat.
This week’s Verdict
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue has managed to get back one half of a star. It earns a full 4 stars this week. *Line of the episode award goes to this bit of dialogue: “What were you hunting down there? Deer, bighorn sheep. You do that for fun? You bet.”* This is streaming on MGM and MGM +.
