Reacher Season 3 Episode 8 was all about Paulie and his “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” exit. It may have been titled Unfinished Business, which it ultimately was, but really the show was about that big bad. Paulie was the primary source of concern. In a battle between two behemoth warriors, could Reacher win without resorting to gunplay?
*Of course he can, after all the show bears his name, but can he win convincingly.*
I’ll stab you in the Arse, Right here.
Duffy does not pull any punches in dealing with Beck Sr. They have, stressfully managed to bypass Paulie at the main gate. However, with Detective Villanueva driving the big rig like he is either on drugs or drunk, it is a miracle they did not get stopped by the giant before they got started.
Round one?
Paulie makes it to the rigs almost before he is spotted. Reacher tells the gang to carry on.
I’ll take care of Paulie.
The fight starts off with a little choking and then devolves into Punch and Judy with a detour into the garage. Reacher shows us that a thumb in the eye will stop even the behemoth called Paulie.
The enormous villain oversteps his mark when, once again being overconfident, he tries to choke Reacher in the same garage.
Meanwhile back at the main house:
Villanueva fights his own desperate battle with an armed guard in the toilet.
Splish Splash
Reacher and Paulie finally, after raking each other a bit, make it to that flushing seaside. You remember? The one all the bodies are tossed into. Paulie and Reacher both struggle here, until our hero punches the big man in the throat.
Comedy Moment
I knew I could count on you.
Neagley, scouting the party for Quinn, is spotted. The head of the caterers pounces and demands to know why she is just wandering aimlessly. Neagley misses not one beat and lets the busybody into her “plan.”
He’s B-a-a-a-c-k
Reacher is confident that he has “deep-sixed” Paulie, when he pops up like a malefic, giant, Paulie-in-the-box. He hobbles behind Reacher all the way to the gatehouse. There, after a short but brutal fight, Reacher proves that smarts plus brawn beats “the big guys” every time.

meanwhile part DEUX
It all comes together. Duffy gets Theresa as well as her potential rapist and his guard. Reacher starts cleaning house and Neagley helps. Beck Jr runs right into Quinn. Beck Sr has a standoff with Quinn holding a toy pistol. Quinn wins that one.
Later, after a much shorter standoff, Quinn finally remembers.
As Finales go
Reacher Season 3, episode 8: Unfinished Business could win an award here. Granted, the entire third season rocked, but the finale went above and beyond here. If there were an emmy category for best season finale? This would win.
Paulie’s grim re-emergence from each of this battles with Reacher screamed Halloween. (The originals, not the Zombie remakes, although I am a fan of both.) If that is not your horror cup of tea, how ’bout Jason from Friday the 13th?
Or lets just go straight to the nine lives myth. Whichever one you choose; Paulie well and truly lost in the end.
The Trailer
We leave you with the trailer, aka clip, of Beck Sr displaying cojones the size of Texas as he stands off Quinn in his office with Roy Rogers:
