Ready to stream The Baldwins on TLC? The new series will give viewers an exclusive look into the lives of the Baldwin family: the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Before it premieres on February 23, let’s take a look at how the famous family has used their platform to speak up for animals.
How the Baldwins Have Helped PETA Advocate for Animals
Alec Baldwin
In 2002, the actor narrated Meet Your Meat—the groundbreaking, comprehensive video documenting the abuse of animals raised and killed for their flesh, using videos from filthy farms and slaughterhouses. The bombshell exposé has become one of the most widely viewed animal rights videos in the world.
The Emmy award-winner has joined PETA numerous times to speak up for animals used for “entertainment,” from elephants and big cats in circuses to bears at roadside zoos. Take a look at PETA’s “Draw My Life” video, in which Alec tells the story of Tyler, a tiger who was taken from his home to be used in a circus, where handlers beat him and crushed his spirit:
In another powerful video, the actor exposes cruel cub-petting operations that use baby bears—who have been taken from their mothers—as photo props.
Alec also urged SeaWorld to stop allowing trainers to stand on dolphins’ faces during shows—a cruel, demeaning practice that has since ended following PETA’s campaign.
Hilaria Baldwin
Hilaria teamed up with PETA to launch our epic “Beauty Without Bunnies” cruelty-free shopping guide. This guide helps consumers identify products that are not tested on animals. Now, there are more than 6,300 companies in our database that don’t test on animals!
Following the release of Blackfish, the momentous documentary about the suffering of orcas at SeaWorld, she called on Macy’s CEO to remove SeaWorld’s float from its Thanksgiving Day Parade. Her letter noted that dozens of animals have died prematurely at SeaWorld’s parks, “which should not be celebrated with a giant Shamu float parading down 34th Street.”
Ireland Baldwin
Remember PETA’s iconic “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign? Ireland’s mom, Kim Basinger, was one of the first celebrities to pose nude for the campaign—and Ireland was proud to follow in her footsteps. In behind-the-scenes footage from her photo shoot, Ireland told PETA, “I’ve had wardrobe people try to put me in fur coats and jumpsuits and lay on a fur rug and do whatever, and I’ve actually told people to f*ck off.”

Let’s not forget Ireland’s legendary collaboration with Too Faced Cosmetics. She partnered with the cruelty-free brand to launch its stunning summer collection, “Natural Love,” showing consumers that beauty and empathy go hand in hand.
Ireland also called out Canada Goose over its use of down feathers. At the company’s annual shareholder meeting, she noted that PETA’s exposé of a Canada Goose supplier revealed workers forcefully grabbing panicked geese and hauling them around by their necks.
