PS: Yes, that’s me in the old photo!
From the time I was very young, growing up in rural New Hampshire, I was fascinated by the Indigenous cultures that once thrived in the forests I loved so dearly. I hated the monster machines that came in to log wood and the mammoth paper mills that devoured trees. When, at 23 years old, I joined the Peace Corps, I requested an assignment to the Amazon — the one place where I knew people lived much as my heroes had.
It was the beginning of a life-long journey to learn about the ways Indigenous wisdom and practices can change my life and create ecological civilizations.
