From Sea to Summit: Group Metropolitan Raises £100,000 for Reverse Rett in Epic Two-Day Challenge

In an extraordinary display of endurance, teamwork, and heart, 37 fundraisers from Group Metropolitan took on a monumental two-day Sea to Summit corporate charity adventure event, raising an incredible £100,000 for the charity Reverse Rett.

Two Routes, One Purpose

The challenge began at Llanfairfechan on the North Wales coast and ended at Pen y Pass, nestled in the shadow of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Participants had the choice of two formidable routes:

  • A 175-mile cycle route with over 10,000 feet of ascent, testing the stamina and spirit of even the most seasoned riders.
  • A 42-kilometre hike with 1,750 metres of ascent, climbing all the way from sea level to the summit of Yr Wyddfa – the highest peak in Wales.

Whether pedaling through mountain passes or trekking across rugged terrain, every step and pedal stroke brought the team closer to their goal: raising funds to help children living with Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects brain development.

Powered by Purpose – and Lily

At the heart of the challenge was a little girl named Lily, who lives with Rett Syndrome and whose courage inspired the entire team. Lily and her family are passionate supporters of Reverse Rett, and their presence during the event added deep personal meaning to the challenge.

In a particularly moving moment, Lily joined the team on the second day for their final summit of Yr Wyddfa, sharing in their triumph at the peak after a grueling ascent. Her resilience and radiant spirit embodied the very reason everyone was there.

More Than a Challenge

For Group Metropolitan, this wasn’t just about climbing mountains — it was about moving them.

“Watching everyone push their physical limits while staying focused on why we were doing it — for children like Lily — was incredibly powerful,” said one participant. “The hills were steep, but the cause pulled us through.”

The event united colleagues across departments and disciplines, turning a professional network into a bonded team of adventurers, united by a shared mission.

Raising Awareness, Funding Hope

Reverse Rett is the only UK charity focused exclusively on accelerating treatments and cures for Rett Syndrome. The funds raised from the Sea to Summit challenge will support groundbreaking research and offer vital support to families affected by the condition.

A Summit Worth Reaching

As the team descended from the summit, the energy was one of exhaustion, elation — and deep fulfillment. From sea level to the sky, the journey wasn’t just measured in miles and metres, but in the hope it brought and the community it strengthened.

Group Metropolitan’s Sea to Summit corporate charity adventure event proved that with grit, unity, and a clear purpose, anything is possible.
