This was through the forest on a busy section of US 101, so not much in the way of scenery (not that there is much interest in seeing the view when you’re working that hard to go uphill!).
The second largest climb was about 400 feet, but much more enjoyable. It was along the coast and provided many magnificent views of the rocky shore below. The road was a three-mile one-way stretch paralleling the highway. It was primarily a bike trail and I only saw two vehicles on it. So quiet and peaceful, and the smell of pine was so pleasant. Only God could create something as awesome as this. I wanted to linger there all afternoon, but I had to keep pressing on to our host church in Newport, OR.
Dinner: Hot dogs, hamburgers, and various carry-in dishes provided by our wonderful hosts at Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport, OR.
