The one big change was that we are now riding 70 miles each today and tomorrow heading due south, and the wind is still out of the NNE, so we had a wonderful tailwind all day and should again tomorrow.
Oh, am I talking about the weather too much? Cyclists are obsessed with the weather. We are at the mercy of the weather and we always want to know how good or bad the conditions are going to be – especially the wind. The wind is everything.
Same thing for drivers. Some are good, some not so good. But there is not much we can do either way other than to be alert and be ready to react if danger approaches.
In the end, we are not in control. So why do we do it? Because the mission of the Fuller Center for Housing is worth the risk. It’s worth the risk in order to raise money to help end poverty housing. It’s worth the risk to minister to people who are hurting and don’t now Jesus. He said “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). He did not say, “…unless it’s risky or dangerous.”
So I press on regardless of the weather, stay alert, and I pray without ceasing.
