Kristen Welker Scores Newsmaking Trump Interview


News Maker: Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press with Kristen Welker featured a newsmaking interview with President Donald Trump. Welker pressed the president on whether he needs to uphold the U.S Constitution when it comes to citizens and non-citizens deserving due process. “I don’t know,” the president said. “I have brilliant lawyers that work for me, and they are going to obviously follow what the Supreme Court said.”

Back on the beat: CNN’s Kristen Holmes is back on the White House beat after returning from maternity leave. She was named the network’s senior White House correspondent right President Trump’s inauguration, which coincided with the birth of her second child.

Trial watch: ABC News Live will debut a new 30-minute daily show focusing on the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial. Burden of Proof: The Case Against Diddy will premiere Friday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. ET, hosted by GMA3 co-anchor Eva Pilgrim. The show will deliver real-time updates and analysis of the defense and prosecution of the music mogul.
