Wilson Sporting Goods, the US-based manufacturer of high-performance sports equipment, apparel, footwear, and accessories, has released its first-ever tennis shoe designed specifically for women.
Developed in partnership with Wilson athlete and tennis star Marta Kostyuk, the “Intrigue” tennis shoe is designed for responsiveness, comfort, and the rigours of fast-paced play, all while maintaining a stylish look.
Reflecting on the design process, Kostyuk commented, “Working with Wilson, I aimed to develop a shoe that empowers female athletes to move with greater speed and agility while also offering a stylish aesthetic. The Intrigue fulfils this vision.”
“This shoe has helped me elevate my game with increased speed and intensity, and I hope it inspires female athletes worldwide to do the same.”
Wilson has crafted the Intrigue tennis shoe focusing on the female foot. In-depth research has been conducted to understand women’s foot shape and preferences. The resulting fit is supported by three key technologies, most notably UltraShield. This innovative mesh material provides lightweight, breathable comfort while withstanding intense play demands.
The Intrigue features FootFrame, a dynamic support structure that accommodates diverse foot shapes and playing styles, offering personalized comfort. This system works in conjunction with the laces for customized adjustments. SwiftStep technology utilizes a drop-in sock liner design, positioning responsive foam closer to the footbed for enhanced feel and performance.
Shivam Bhan, senior director of footwear at Wilson, stated, “Because women’s feet are different, we designed this shoe specifically for them, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit that gives them confidence on the court.”
Gordon Devin, president of Wilson Sportswear, said, “We’re passionate about empowering female tennis players and are committed to innovation. Wilson will continue to deliver the best products to help our athletes thrive as the game grows.”
The Intrigue redefines speed on the court, giving women tennis players a bold new advantage to achieve dominance.
The Intrigue tennis shoe will be released on February 11th. It will initially be available in the Dewberry colourway, featuring pink and navy accents. Customers can purchase the shoe online at Wilson’s website and at select retail locations. Later in the year, Wilson plans to introduce additional colour options. To accommodate a variety of playing styles, the Intrigue will be offered in three versions: the Tour ($158), Pro ($138), and Lite ($98).
