An American Airlines aircraft caught fire at Denver International Airport (DEN) on the evening of March 13, 2025.
The Boeing 737-800 plane, operating as flight AA1006, was en route to Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW) from Colorado Springs Airport (COS).
The flight departed Colorado Springs at around 16:37 local time, and shortly after, the aircraft performed an emergency landing at Denver Airport at around 17:55 local time.

Several video footage captured the incident, showing smoke billowing out of the plane, while passengers are seen standing and balancing on the plane’s wings as ground staff help them get on the ground.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that emergency slides were also used to bring passengers safely to the ground.

Based on the images and video clips, the plane was able to make it to the airport’s Gate C38, indicating that the fire erupted after it landed.
Subsequent video clips and photos show ground crew attempting to put the aircraft fire out. All crew and passengers were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident to FOX31, saying: “After landing safely and taxiing to the gate at Denver International Airport (DEN), American Airlines Flight 1006 experienced an engine-related issue. The 172 customers and six crew members deplaned and are being relocated to the terminal. We thank our crew members, DEN team and first responders for their quick and decisive action with the safety of everyone on board and on the ground as the priority.”
