German carrier Lufthansa has announced that it will begin flights to Denver, United States, for the first time using the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world, starting in summer 2025.
This makes the capital of Colorado the sixth destination for the A380, the airline announced in a press release on January 23, 2025.
The inaugural flight on the new route is scheduled for April 30, 2025. The A380 will take off at 11:15 local time as flight LH480 and land in Denver at 13:45 local time. The return flight departs at 16:15 local time and lands back in Munich at 10:50 local time the following day.
“The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa, but also for the airport itself,” said Heiko Reitz, CCO Lufthansa Airlines. “It is the first time that a scheduled flight with an aircraft of this size will land there.”
In summer 2025, eight Airbus A380s, each with 509 seats, will be based at the airline’s hub in Munich, the press release added. The other destinations include New York (JFK), Boston, Washington, Los Angeles, Delhi and Denver.
Lufthansa has been flying non-stop from Munich to Denver for nine years and from Frankfurt for 25 years. In summer 2025, there will be four daily flights available – two from Munich and two from Frankfurt.
