New US tornado warnings, storms kill 28 and destroy airport


There are more warnings of storms and tornadoes after parts of the United States were struck by severe weather that killed at least 28 people and devastated London-Corbin Airport (LOZ) in Kentucky. 

Currently the National Weather Service says that the Mid-South, Tennessee Valley, and lower Ohio River Valley are most at risk of chaotic thunderstorms, including damaging winds and tornadoes. 

A series of tornadoes and catastrophic weather have hit the US in recent days with Kentucky and Missouri particularly suffering badly from deadly storms.  

The Associated Press reported that 28 people were killed with 19 dead in Kentucky, seven in Missouri and two in Virginia.

According to reports, more than 20 million Americans are currently living in areas where weather warnings of severe storms or tornadoes are in place. 

Communities in London, Kentucky, are reeling from the devastation caused after tornadoes swept through their neighborhoods on May 16, 2025.
