French Montana born and raised in Morocco for the better part of his childhood migrated from his homeland and entered the “land of the free” otherwise known as the U.S.. French montana is a very successful artist through and through with a foot in many aspects of the industry including rapping, writing, singing, and producing. French Montana’s life story reflects the resilience that many immigrants encompass. Upon his arrival in the States he had very little knowledge of American customs and only spoke English and Arabic.
French uses his fame and fortune to highlight and shed love to the diaspora in his music. His 2023 remix of the song “Finesse” with Pheelze a Nigerian artist is a fan favorite. The essence of the video is beautiful, and his love for the culture radiates from the dancing to the usage of a Moroccan restaurant for the filming of the video. Many have even claimed it to be “The song of the year!”

“Finesse” was not French Montana’s first go at featuring African in his music. He is very proud of his heritage and one of his most well-known pieces “Unforgettable” was shot and filmed in Uganda. The artist was inspired by “The Ghetto Triplets” a Ugandan based dance group. He then flew out and featured them as well as other locals in his music video. French’s generosity did not stop there, he then used the proceeds from the video towards the betterment of the Suubi “Hope” Center which is a maternity and children’s health clinic in Uganda. He is said to have helped raise over $226 million dollars for health care initiatives in Uganda. In 2023 French was declared the African born artist with the most streams.
