Half Price are slowing things down on their new single “Achilles’ Heel” – a reflective offering that sees the veteran band retaining elements of their classic sound whilst venturing into more vulnerable terrain.
Exploring the age-old punk realisation – when life kicks your ass, you need to kick it right back – Half Price tap into a Blink-182 likeness, embracing pop-punk in way that feels brilliantly mature.
Born from a real life Achilles tendon rupture, the song examines self reflection and overcoming adversity. The metaphor of putting the foot flat draws back to the physical injury and having to stare hardship in the face, whilst the catchy hook and chorus line (carried by Sober Pete’s distinct vocals) make the song an instant earworm.
The resilience to overcome a difficult situation is one we all share, and Half Price happily remind us of that.
