The State has officially concluded its case against businessman and blogger Elias Musyani, who stands accused of online harassment targeted at renowned Zambian musician Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo Maps, and his wife, Kidist.
After presenting six state witnesses, Lusaka Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya has set Friday next week as the date for her ruling on a case to answer.
On the ruling date, two possible outcomes will determine Musyani’s fate:
- If found with a case to answer – He will be placed on defense, where he must provide his side of the story in an attempt to clear his name.
- If found with no case to answer – The magistrate will dismiss the charges, and Musyani will be acquitted and set free.
The case, which has attracted significant public attention, stems from allegations that Musyani used social media to harass and defame the couple. Following Monday’s hearing, Yo Maps and Kidist were spotted leaving the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court Complex, awaiting the next legal step in the high-profile case.
With the final ruling now pending, all eyes remain on the magistrate’s verdict, which will determine whether Musyani faces further legal proceedings or walks free.
