Trenchtown to host Solidarity Benefit Concert in aid of Dubmasta China – Texx and the City

On April 27th 2025, Cape Town’s TrenchTown will play host to a once-off, one-of-a-kind benefit concert in aid of the much-loved Cape Town talent, and reggae stalwart, Dubmasta China.

After an undiagnosed tumour in the frontal lobe of his brain left his executive function eroded, funds are being raised for China’s medical and recovery costs.

Hosted by Mark Sampson, the line-up will include the legendary Heather Mac joined by Mark Harris, reggae luminaries Sons of Selassie, Higher Grade, (the latest musical project of Farrell Adams and Elton Goslett), Crosby Bolani, Teba Shumba as well as Superdan and live electronic artist, Teh Synes.

Also on the bill are a range of reggae, drum and bass, jungle and funky DJs, including The Boogieman, The Real Rozanno and Ras Dynamite.

The reggae community, and the broader music community of Cape Town, have come together in a spirit of love, positivity and support in order to stage this event. Within days, a massive outpouring of care was received, and the Solidarity Benefit Concert is the result of all this.

A suggested donation of a minimum of R100 will be asked at the door, with all proceeds going directly to China himself.

There is also a BackaBuddy campaign running to support DJ China. Donations are welcome here: https://www.backabuddy.co.za/campaign/chinas-fund

Tickets will be available at the door, credit cards and cash accepted.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
