CLAAS is a global agricultural machinery manufacturer headquartered in Harsewinkel, Germany.
CLAAS is a family business that employs about 11,500 around the world and has annual revenue
of about 4 billion euros (20% of which is in Germany).
CLAAS is a market leader in combine harvesters, and it holds a strong market share in Europe.
In addition to tractors and combines, CLAAS also produces other farm equipment, including balers,
mowers, rakes, tedders, silage trailers,
wheel loaders, and telehandlers.
More recently, CLAAS has made investments in information technology and software.

CLAAS History
CLAAS traces its roots to 1887 when Franz Claas founded a small company in Clarholz, Germany,
to produce milk centrifuges. As his venture grew, Franz Claas expanded the product offering to include other
agricultural machinery, including straw binders and cutters for mowing machines.
CLAAS was formally established in 1913 when August Claas, son of Franz Claas, registered the entity.
The Claas family moved the company to Harsewinkel in 1919, where they bought a larger factory to
begin exporting CLAAS products to other European countries, including Holland, France and Belgium.
CLAAS developed its first combine harvester in 1930 using the fore-cut principle. In 1931 the company
produced its first straw baler. In the following decades, the company ramped up production and CLAAS
became the top-selling combine harvester in Europe. The company continued to
expand its product offering to mowers, tedders, windrowers, loader wagons and trailed forage harvesters.
CLAAS began expanding its sales presence outside of Europe in the 1990s. It established
new factories and sales locations in India (1989), United States (1999), Russia (2005), China (2012)
and South America. In 2003 CLAAS expanded into traditional tractors when it acquired a majority stake in

Branding
The Company’s logo features the word CLAAS in bright red uppercase letters. Its products feature a
color combination of the red logo, and lime green and white.

Manufactures headers and other equipment.
Chandigarh, India:
Manufactures combine harvesters. The CROP TIGER combine harvester is mainly produced in the
Chandigarh plant in both wheeled and TERRA TRAC tracked versions.
