Company History

Deutz-Fahr is a leading manufacturer of tractors headquartered in Lauingen, Germany.
The current legal entity was formed in 1968; however, the company traces its roots back to
Nicolaus August Otto, who founded the Motorenfabrik N.A. Otto & Cie (which later became
Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG “KHD” in 1864).

Nicolaus August Otto and Eugene Langen invented the first four-stroke spark-combustion engine.
Early engines were used as horse-drawn generators for other machines, including power threshers
and hay balers. These early tractor engines still required horses to steer.

KHD’s first mass-produced tractor, the DEUTZ MTH 222, was launched in 1927. In 1936 the Company
released the DEUTZ 11 Series, which became an affordable machine for small farmers.

In 1968 KHD acquired FAHR, a leading agricultural equipment company, and re-branded itself
as Deutz-Fahr.

Today, Deutz-Fahr employs around 250 designers and technicians in its research and development
and works with various Universities and Technical Institutions throughout Europe and Asia to
develop its next-generation tractors.
Deutz-Fahr and Fendt (an AGCO Corporation brand, see

are the largest tractor manufacturing companies in Germany.

Branding

The initial Deutz-Fahr logo (below, on the left) closely resembled the logo in use today (below, on the right).
The company’s tractors and other farm equipment manufactured today are colored green.

Deutz-Allis And AGCO Corporation

Deutz-Allis was formed when Deutz-Fahr purchased the agricultural assets of the
Allis-Chalmers corporation in 1985. Deutz-Allis was eventually sold to the
Allis-Gleaner Corporation in 1990, which became
AGCO Corporation.

Deutz-Allis tractors and equipment were renamed in North America as AGCO-Allis.
Today, Deutz-Fahr is no longer associated with Deutz-Allis or AGCO Corporation.

Power Farming Group (PFG)

Power Farming Group (PFG)
is the largest independent distributor of tractors
and the most successful Deutz-Fahr distributor in the world. PFG started in 1947
as a family-owned tractor dealer in New Zealand. Today, PFG is
Deutz-Fahr’s tractor distributor for three countries (New Zealand, Australia, and the USA).

PFG operates 18 company-owned dealerships and has 300 independent dealer customers.
PFG operates PFG America, which is a custom-built facility in Dacula, Georgia, serving
North America.

Factories

After around three years of planning, Deutz-Fahr opened Europe’s most modern tractor factory in 2017
in Lauingen, Germany (“DEUTZ-FAHR LAND”), about 80 miles northwest of Munich. The Deutz-Fahr 6 Series, 7 Series, 8 Series, and 9 Series tractors
are manufactured in Lauingen, Germany and exported worldwide. The plant has a production capacity of 40 tractors per day,
and it cost 90 million euros to construct.
Deutz-Fahr manufactures its smaller tractors in Treviglio, Italy and Bandirma, Turkey

Deutz-Fahr manufactures its own engines under the Deutz brand name at its Cologne, Germany plant. Deutz-Fahr’s
larger tractors use Deutz engines, while smaller tractors use Farmotion engines assembled in India.
