Freedom, Approachability, and Collaboration Across Borders – The Keys to a Successful Work Culture at ELGi


What makes the team culture at ELGi truly unique and enjoyable for me are three key qualities: freedom, approachability, and collaboration across borders. But before I dive into each of these, let me give you some context about my role. As the Marketing Manager for Europe, I’m part of not just one but two teams within the organization — the European team and the Global Marketing Team.

Collaboration Across Borders: Expanding Horizons, Achieving Success

One of the most enriching aspects of working at ELGi is the opportunity to collaborate across countries and cultures. As a member of the Global Marketing Team, I regularly collaborate with colleagues from India, Italy, and the United States. These cross-regional collaborations allow us to align on common goals, share best practices, and build a collective vision.

Meanwhile, within ELGi Europe, I work alongside colleagues from across the continent and beyond. Our headquarters in Waterloo alone represents over 10 different nationalities! This cultural diversity brings multiple perspectives to the table, encouraging creative problem-solving. Different viewpoints lead to stronger strategies and, ultimately, better outcomes.

Approachability: Breaking Down Barriers

Despite ELGi’s roots as an Indian company—where one might expect a hierarchical structure—I’ve experienced something quite the opposite. Whether it’s the European leadership team or our global leaders, I’ve always found them to be approachable, supportive, and open to feedback.

This culture of approachability fosters a strong sense of purpose and alignment. It makes it easier for all of us to understand the company’s vision, ask questions, and seek guidance when needed. This open-door attitude plays a significant role in uniting us as one team working toward a shared mission.

Another quality I deeply value at ELGi is the freedom to innovate. Especially in a fast-growing market like Europe, we must think beyond conventional solutions. Here, we’re encouraged to explore new ideas, develop fresh processes, and take ownership of our initiatives.
