Climate Change: Drought in France

Airbus will be tasking the SPOT satellite every month from May to December 2023 to document drought in the Pyrénées Orientales, France from space.

The images are available free of charge to companies, the scientific and academic community, with the purpose of assisting territorial and economic decision-makers with technological solutions throughout the crisis. The dataset not only includes, monthly images but also emcompasses the annual coverage history of the department in SPOT 6/7 since 2014. This comprehensive dataset is accessible on DINAMIS.

This program enables the continuous monitoring of drought evolutions and their impact on the territory, on a monthly basis. Furthermore, it provides a massive volume of images to evaluate solutions using Artificial Intelligence. The climate impact indicators that will be developed in the department cover three types of landscape: Mediterranean, mountain and coastal. They will provide territorial decision-makers with rapid, regular, precise and objective information on the evolution and consequences of the drought.
