Yam Mounds in Togo Acquired by Pléiades Neo

Near the city of Bassar in central Togo, yams are grown in mounds of soil that range from 50cm to 1m in width and can be counted in a Pléiades Neo image.

Each mound will contain several tubes of starch content that weigh between 3 to 5 kilograms. The yam plays a very important role in the food security of populations around the Gulf of Guinea as well as a social and ritual role and can continue to produce for up to 10 years.
