A Guide to Azores Airlines Liveries

Azores Airlines is a Portuguese carried based in the Azores archipelago, out in the North Atlantic.

The airline began life as OceanAir in 1990, was taken over by SATA Air Açores (and airline dating back to the 1940s) in 1995. It was rebranded as SATA International to operate alongside the older carrier’s regional services.

It was renamed Azores Airlines in 2015 and has since modernised its fleet and corporate branding.

Today it remains a subsidiary of SATA Air Açores and is based at Ponta Delgada airport, alongside a hub at Lisbon.

The airline serves around 20 destinations, stretching across Europe and to North America.

Following its rebrand, and coinciding with the delivery of a fleet of brand new Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, Azores Airlines started introducing a new livery which varies from aircraft to aircraft.

Many feature inspiring words alongside the açor logo (a bird native to the Azores). These words are meant to evoke the feelings of visiting the Azores islands.

The A320neo fleet features the words: “Natural”, “Pure”, “Dream” and “Unique”.

The words featured include: “Breathe”, “Wonder”, “Magical”, “Inspire” and “Peaceful” on the A321neo fleet.
