Air France, Softiel Introduce New Business Class Bedding – FlyerTalk

After announcing a major upgrade to the first class cabin, Air France’s business class cabin is the latest to get an upgrade with a new mattress pad from Softiel.

Two French brands are coming together to improve the business class experience for Air France long-haul business class flyers.

The airline announced the launch of a new mattress pad from Accor’s Softiel, the hospitality company’s luxury brand.

Mattress Pad Designed to Feel Like “Floating on a Cloud”

The mattress pad was designed to fit well across all of the airline’s business class cabins, including those found on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350. The mattress pad is presented during boarding in the business class seat, along with other comfort items including a pillow, blanket, and slippers.

Air France says the new mattress pad was designed to give flyers the feeling of “Floating on a Cloud.” It is mirrored off the Softiel MY BED, introduced in 2003 in the high-end hotel’s rooms. Flyers can use the pad during all segments of the flight, from takeoff to landing. After deplaning, the mattress pads are recollected by staff for cleaning and repackaging, ensuring good hygiene for every passenger.

“We are delighted to join forces with the expertise of Sofitel MY BED, an exceptional partner, to continue making Business cabin travel a true haven of well-being in the sky,” Fabien Pelous, senior vice president of customer experience at Air France, said in a statement. “The introduction of a new mattress pad will further enhance the comfort offered on board, ensuring even more restful nights before arrival at destination, as well as greater relaxation during daytime flights.”

The new bedding will begin to roll out in July 2025, with full deployment on long haul flights expected by the end of the year.

Air France’s move comes after the carrier announced a major upgrade to their first class product, La Première. The redesigned luxury seat features  two seating areas encapsulated in a 3.5 meter suite.
