On March 11th, the Brazilian aeronautical authority (ANAC Brasil) announced that it is suspending the operations of Voepass Linhas Aéreas, a Brazilian airline operating within the country on ATR 42-600, ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600 aircraft.

This suspension, as stated through a press release, is “due to the inability of Voepass to resolve the irregularities identified during the supervision carried out by the entity, as well as the violation of the conditions previously established for the continuity of the operation within the required safety standards.”

Voepass Linhas Aéreas is under a restructuring process following the accident on August 9th, 2024 in Vinhedo, when the ATR 72-500 with registration PS-VPB crashed while covering flight 2283 between Cascavel and Sao Paulo Guarulhos. During the last few months, the airline had to retire several aircraft due to lack of payment, which resulted in the cancellation of many routes in Brazil.

ANAC will keep Voepass operations suspended until the airline demonstrates that it can guarantee the level of safety required by current regulations.

The Mexican company will have a major expansion of domestic and international services starting in late March, for the Northern summer 2025.
